a return to Flash

Now I know I said I was going to have my finished dialogue up next, but I couldn't wait to share this.
I couldn't quite get into Flash at my old college, but this go around is different.  I may be a week behind because of an absence, but I'm definitely enjoying the process more - maybe because we're being taught the digicel version of animating, which is much more like traditional, along with rigging (which we'll get into pretty soon)

so here's a look at my ruff pose work.  I'm already making the adjustments mentioned in class, but thought I'd share it to come back and compare later.

thanks for dropping in! maybe this guy won't be so grumpy when you see him next ;)

dialog test

sorry for the hiatus, I had my birthday mini-vacation with my sister and then I had to play catch-up on work (while fighting a cold that sis decided to share)

oooo, my first attempt at adding dialog to an animation.  If you've ever seen Paper Moon, then you'll recognize the dialog.  It's not completely inbetweened, but here's what it's shaping up to be:
there's no mouth animation yet, because I'm still tying down the body language.  in fact I'll have to lose a lot of the part that's already inbetweened in order to make the scene more clear and to keep from having gesture "repeats" (like her motioning to herself 2 different ways)… like my favorite part of it.. oh well! tear it off quick like a band-aid and keep going!  The whole thing is due next week, so this will be a no sleep week for me @__@
as always, thanks for dropping by, and feel free to comment/message me :)

Character Design

last semester I took character design, which was pretty fun.  The not-so-fun part was that i seemed to reach an apex on my second-to-last character, and couldn't really seem to catch that lightning in a bottle for my Final. oh well.
for the class we were old to pick a story, pick 5 characters from that story, pick one to two artists to influence our style (we could also use our own if it was dynamic enough), and then pick a new genre to put that story in.
I picked:
Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury
Mr. Dark
Jim
Will
Mr Halloway
and picked the option to do a character sheet of one of the previous characters instead of doing a 5th
picked Shane Prigmore as my influence (but I had more of "me" in the art than I had intended, but my teacher din't mind)
and then set the whole thing in a retro 50's idea of future space

my apex piece was this little gem:
Will Halloway

I'd like to redo my other pieces and get back to this level, so maybe in the future you'll see those :)
thanks for dropping by again!

Grendal's Oasis

going to try and upload my animatic for my 30 second project

it seems Blogger won't let me upload the video…that's fine, I'll just link my youtube post

…there might be some pacing issues at the beginning, but I'm liking it so far…but there are soooo many scenes! O__O what was I thinking?!

Just watched the Annies

Some of my favorites won... and most didn't, but you know what? everyone there put all their effort into what they did, so kudos to all the winners!
I hope one day to just be nominated - that would would be an honor in and of itself - but for now, I'll remain a devoted Animation student
With that I'd like to share my favorite frame of my current animation (homework) scene:
anyway, I hope to have this animation finished tomorrow and reshot by monday morning to share.  Thanks for stopping by :)
